While you may not wish to splash the necessary cash for a trend-setting Kindle electronic book reader, there are still ways for you to enjoy reading digital eBooks with an Amazon-flavoured slant.
Moreover, the online retail titan is looking to increase the hardware compatibility of its Kindle software application by bringing it to Research In Motion’s hugely popular line of BlackBerry smartphones.
“Since the launch of our popular Kindle for iPhone app last year, customers have been asking us to bring a similar experience to the BlackBerry, and we are thrilled to make it available today,” enthused Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon’s Kindle division.
For those bookworms looking to investigate this newfangled Kindle thing, download and use of the application is free, enabling users to peruse through Amazon’s virtual bookshelves, make quick and easy eBook purchases, enjoy on-screen text samples, and read content in full colour.
BlackBerry devices presently supporting the Amazon Kindle electronic reader software application include the Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8520, Curve 8900, Storm 9350, Storm 9550, and Tour 9630.
The free Kindle application is also available on the iconic Apple iPhone and through Windows-equipped personal computers. And, according to Amazon, the app platform will soon be making an appearance on Apple Mac computer systems and the recently unveiled Apple iPad tablet.
