LG and T-Mobile offer up the pennywise Sentio

Hey, look... it's NOT an iPhone. Image: LG/T-Mobile.

It may come as something of a shock, but the world of mobile phones is actually populated by a wealth of versatile and appealing handsets that don’t carry Apple or BlackBerry branding.

Granted, they might not be quite as obviously sexy as the iPhone, but we’d be lapse in our responsibilities as self-confessed ‘geek reporters’ if we didn’t at least present a wider slice of the market for your perusal.

So here’s the new LG Sentio from T-Mobile, a handset likely to appeal to the more pennywise consumer who’s perhaps slightly less demanding when it comes to features but still wants to remain socially connected via modern mediums other than ye olde talking.

Running on T-Mobile’s nimble 3G network and equipped with a solid 3.0-inch display that certainly looks the part alongside today’s cutting-edge mobile devices, the LG Sentio comes complete with full scroll touch-screen capabilities, a virtual QWERTY keyboard, GPS support, a customisable Home screen and a selection of handy preloaded widgets.

It also includes the Social Buzz platform, which enables users to keep in touch with friends and family via personal email and picture messaging, along with a 3.0 mega-pixel camera with video recording and playback, a built-in media player, Bluetooth, Visual Voicemail, a microSD slot, and up to six hours of talk time.

Available now in a soft-touch navy blue finish, the LG Sentio from T-Mobile costs $69.99 USD after a $50 USD mail-in rebate (not bad at all). Or, if you prefer, you can take advantage of T-Mobile’s ‘Even More Plus’ payment plan and drop nine dollars per month for a period of 20 months.
