Laptop-shooting father faces police and Child Protective Services

Tommy Jordan, the frustrated father that shot his daughter’s laptop after she branded he a slave driver on Facebook, has received visits from the police, Child Protective Services (CPS), and Good Morning America.
According to Mr. Jordan, his somewhat extreme example of parenting-in-action isn’t likely to result in his family being torn apart, and both the police and the attending CPS caseworker left satisfied that 15-year-old Hannah was part of a “healthy home”.
“Yes they came. Of course they came,” the IT professional wrote on his Facebook timeline. “They received enough ‘Oh my God he’s going to kill his daughter’ comments that they had to.”
“At the end of the day, no I’m not losing my kids, no one’s in danger of being ripped from our home that I know of,” he added.
Mr. Jordan also revealed that the CPS caseworker interviewed his daughter for around 90 minutes during the visit, and also viewed his collection of unloaded guns in their rack with ammunition removed and stored separately and safely.
Not just the focus of attention for law enforcement and CPS, the Jordan family home in North Carolina has also been visited by Good Morning America. However, its roving eye was quickly chased off the property by one of Mr. Jordan’s friends.
The eight-minute video clip went viral soon after appearing on February 8. The footage has been viewed almost 25 million times since Mr. Jordan posted it to YouTube and linked it directly to his daughter’s Facebook page.
And, in terms of audience reaction, an active CBS poll shows that 78 percent of people agree with Mr. Jordan’s actions. Some 10 percent believe he went too far by shooting the laptop, while the remaining 12 percent think how he acts as a parent is none of their business.
