A tantalising video clip briefly posted to the PlayStation 3 YouTube channel has led to a rush of rumours suggesting that UK movie-streaming service LoveFilm is about to arrive on Sony's powerhouse entertainment console.

According to EverythingPlayStation.com, the clip apparently showed an official LoveFilm application running on the PlayStation 3. Once installed, the free service will enable users to stream movie content directly to the TV and manage their rental list and customer account.

However, it's worth noting that the service will reportedly only be free for those with pre-existing LoveFilm customer accounts.

The video clip, which was yanked from circulation almost as quickly as it arrived, also outlined that users will never suffer a shortage of great films to enjoy thanks to a bulging portfolio containing “thousands of popular titles.”

Although neither Sony nor LoveFilm have offered up official comment on the story, the service is expected to arrive before the end of the year and will come equipped with free trials and other incentives designed to attract those not already subscribing.
