It looks as though certain members of the notorious hacking community are adopting cannibalistic tendencies following news that online attackers are turning on their cohorts.
More pointedly, the New York Times reports that a hacking group known as the A-Team has this week launched an open attack on LulzSec by publishing the names, aliases, email addresses, phone numbers and other personal details of its members.
According to the A-Team, its overt slapping of a fellow hacking group has come about because LulzSec apparently “lack the skill to do anything more than go after the low-hanging fruit.”
LulzSec hackers have been hogging media headlines over recent weeks following targeted attacks against prominent online destinations belonging to the likes of Sony Corp., the Arizona State Police Dept., and even the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Although LulzSec recently announced its intention to disband—seemingly satisfied that it has collected enough lulz as of late—it would appear that rival hackers are not willing to let the group bow out without feeling some heat.
It remains to be seen if the personal information uncovered by the A-Team will result in LulzSec members being brought to heel by U.S. authorities, or whether LulzSec will regroup and respond in kind.
