Granted, when it comes to Web-centric Netbook devices, there’s little denying that the sexy MSI Wind has an inescapably cutesy quality accenting its portable convenience. However, the unveiling of the new X600 clearly shows that MSI hasn’t forgotten how to make a convincingly muscular notebook.
Weighing in at a shoulder-sparing 2.1kg and boasting an ultra-slim profile of just 9mm at its thinnest point, the fresh-faced X600 boasts a 15.6-inch LCD screen (1680 x 1050) and is powered by either a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium (SU2700) or a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (SU9600) ultra-efficient processor.
The X600 also boasts up to 4GBs of RAM, ATI’s Radeon HD 4330 3D graphics accelerator, and respective hard disk drives in storage sizes of 320GBs and 500GBs – a built-in optical drive is also included in the 1.6GHz configuration.
Portable longevity is bolstered by a six-cell rechargeable battery pack, while other contributing aspects include 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, an on-board Ethernet port, a 1.3 mega pixel camera, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and twin headphone jacks.
Available now in colour choices of either black or silver, the new MSI X600 costs 800 GBP for the 1.6GHz/500GB model and 600 GBP for the 1.3GHz/320GB platform.
