Cos, you can never have too many Netbooks. Image: MSI.
What with all the chatter regarding Apple’s imminent full-frontal assault on willing consumers everywhere (read: the looming iSlate tablet), we’ve been somewhat lapse in our duties where handing out Netbook love is concerned. Consider that shortfall duly rectified.
Meet the little U135, which isn’t a personalised submarine rolled out by the German navy but rather the very first of MSI’s Wind ultra portables to carry Intel’s new Pine Trail single CPU and chipset technology.
Described as a “special edition” Netbook designed to commemorate the millions of Wind models sold globally, the Wind U135 comes equipped with Intel’s N450 processor (1.66GHz), a full 1GB of DDR2 memory, Windows 7 Starter Edition, and HDD storage choices of either 160GBs or 250GBs.
Efficiency aspects garnered through the addition of Pine Trail include just seven watts of energy consumption, 15 percent increased battery life (up to 7.5 hours with the six-cell option), and an overall performance boost of up to 10 percent.
Other features and functions see the Wind U135 offering a 10-inch WSVGA display (1024 x 600), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, a 1.3 mega pixel Web camera, an integrated 4 in 1 card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, and colour choices of Silver, Charcoal, Ruby or Sapphire.
Also boasting MSI’s ECO Engine Technology, a raised chiclet keyboard with 20 percent larger keys, and a 12-month limited warranty, the Wind U135 can be yours in return for just $310 USD.
Who needs Apple’s fancy tablet thing? Well, actually, now you mention it…
