Mmm. Nice. Now, where did I leave that 100,000 quid? Image: Maserati.
The likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini all trip off the tongue easily when naming famous European sports car manufacturers, and now luxury Italian brand Maserati appears keen to join that growling elite.
Looking not unlike a classic Ferrari—likely because of its overt Pininfarina stying—the GranCabrio Sport comes equipped with a hefty naturally aspirated 4.7-litre (V8) engine bolstered by Maserati’s proprietary Friction Reduction Programme.
Offering a foot-to-the-floor speed of 177mph, the sleek four-seat convertible is also capable of producing a respectable 0-62mph time of 5.2 seconds thanks to a beefy 450bhp and top-end torque of 510Nm at 4750rpm.
Other contributing aspects Maserati hopes will help justify the car’s asking price of around 100,000 GBP include Skyhook active suspension, 20-inch Astro wheels, six percent improved fuel efficiency, and improvements made to both the braking system and the exhaust system.
Convinced? The right-hand drive version of Maserati’s GranCabrio Sport is expected to hit UK shores this coming October.
