In an attempt to maintain a degree of interest in some of its older videogame releases, American software giant Microsoft has announced a five-pound price reduction for certain games within its UK range of Xbox 360 Classics, bringing them from 20 GBP to 15 GBP.
Some of those adjusted titles include Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Naruto: Rise of the Ninja, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.
Other newly reduced offerings within the existing Classics line include Halo 3, Gears of War, Forza Motorsport 2, Project Gotham Racing 4 and Mass Effect. In short, the Xbox 360’s bargain basement just got something of a tantalising makeover.
Beyond repositioning a selection of golden oldie titles – and strengthening them against the (now) more expensive Platinum portfolio offered on the Sony PlayStation 3 – Microsoft’s Classics have also been bolstered by some slightly more fresh-faced additions.
Specifically, fans of budget gaming can now enjoy Rockstar’s massively popular and award-winning crime caper Grand Theft Auto IV, along with similarly acclaimed underwater shooter BioShock. However, both of these heavy hitters will remain at the previous 20 GBP price point.
