Having already priced out the competition in the home console market, American software heavyweight Microsoft Corp. has this week moved to add further appeal to its Xbox 360 platform by announcing a newly enhanced ‘Game of the Year’ hardware package.
Beyond the jet-black temptation put forth by the Elite model of Microsoft’s powerhouse console, which comes complete with a hefty 120GBs of data storage, the Game of the Year bundle also offers not one, but two of the system’s most critically acclaimed videogame exclusives.
Specifically, if there’s anyone left on the planet who hasn’t already played Halo 3, then the Game of the Year bundle presents solid motivation to invest in the final episode of Bungie’s fast-paced shooter; while those looking for compelling character progression in a richly detailed fantasy world might be drawn to Lionhead’s hit role-playing adventure Fable II.
In terms of peripherals and accessories thrown into the mix, Microsoft’s latest attempt to separate consumers from their cash also includes a wireless game controller for pure couch-bound comfort, a wireless headset for handing out smack on Xbox Live, and even a free trial with renowned home entertainment service Netflix.
And the price for all this tantalising excitement? The Xbox 360 Game of the Year bundle will retail for $399.99 USD when it slams onto retail shelves this coming May.
Note: Microsoft already sells an Elite package priced at $399.99 USD bundled along with LEGO Indiana Jones and Kung for Panda, and it’s refreshing to see the Redmond-based titan increasing the bundle’s overall credibility without increasing its price point.
