Looking to build on the traction enjoyed by its original Xoom tablet computer, American device maker Motorola has this week debuted its Xoom 2 successor in Singapore.
Beyond weighing in at a full 100 grams lighter than the original Xoom, the new Xoom 2 also pushes a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with robust Corning Gorilla Glass.
Sadly the device only comes with version 3.2 of Google’s market-leading Android operating system (a.k.a., Honeycomb), but we’d expect version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to be available as a downloadable update before the end of Q1.
Other contributing aspects include front and rear cameras (1.3 and 5.0 mega-pixels respectively), wireless printing via MOTOPRINT, wireless multimedia streaming from a home PC via MOTOCAST, 10 hours of single-charge battery life, and an improved splash-resistant chassis.
If you happen to be perusing the tech outlets of Singapore and fancy embracing Motorola’s latest, the first 200 buyers of the 32GB model (Wi-Fi and 3G priced at S$978) will also receive a free productivity-improving Motorola Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
