Looking to expand the BlackBerry’s appeal from just being a hugely popular smartphone blessed with tons of functionality, cool design, trend power, and a superior portion of market share, Canadian creator Research In Motion (RIM) is embracing greater social networking capabilities via a deal with MySpace

More pointedly, officially announced by MySpace Canada yesterday, the world’s most popular social networking destination is now available as a specially customised mobile solution for handsets in the BlackBerry portfolio.

Not just a boon for RIM and its enterprise customer base, MySpace is keen to point out that the introduction of its services through BlackBerry devices is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at bringing its social networking brand to yet more communication platforms.

From a user perspective, the addition of a mobile MySpace application enables BlackBerry owners to enjoy the instant, push-based messaging of social content while also providing them with the tools to manage and share that content, and always be up to speed with the who, what, where and why of their exclusive friends circle.

Compatible with all BlackBerry handsets, the MySpace application can be easily downloaded worldwide through the specific BlackBerry.com page or via the BlackBerry mobile Web browser and the m.myspace.com address.

Furthermore, to coincide with the application’s availability, MySpace has launched a new BlackBerry community page on its official social networking service, through which users can access content, videos, games, ring tones, skin designs and other “unique and engaging features.”

“Millions of BlackBerry smartphone users can now access MySpace content, friend networks, and status and mood updates anywhere at any time,” enthused Dave Stevens, GM of MySpace Canada.

Stevens, who also outlined that MySpace expects 50 percent of its total traffic to come from mobile devices in the next few years, added: “We’re confident we’ll see growth in the use of MySpace [Canada] when people can access their profiles on the go.”

Specific features connected to the application include, a full messaging and comments interface, real-time status and mood updates, friend search and request response, MySpace event notification, and camera integration with optimised photo management for anytime and anywhere snapping, sorting and uploading.
