Ever fancied boosting the graphics prowess of your modest desktop computer without fracturing the bank in the process? If so, the kindly folk over at NVIDIA have just the ticket… or card, if you prefer.

Meet the GeForce GTX 465, a convincingly capable graphics solution that provides users with access to advanced PC gaming via support for DirectX 11 (DX11), and, according to NVIDIA, is also able to decode Blu-Ray 3D in order to bring 3D movies and 3D Internet streaming to your PC.

“With GeForce GTX 465, now even more gamers can experience what DX11 gaming was meant to be,” enthused Drew Henry, general manager of the GeForce brand at NVIDIA.

“By using these new GPUs to build 3D Vision PCs, these same gamers will truly immerse themselves into the future of PC gaming,” he added. “We are passionate about building GPUs to make the PC the best platform for gamers!”

Other contributing features include SLI technology (NVIDIA’s multi-GPU solution), NVIDIA PhysX technology (for providing gamers with dynamic, interactive environments), next-gen CUDA architecture (the foundation of “the world’s most open GPU computing platform”), and complete language and API support.

Not bad. Not bad at all, especially when you consider that the GTX 465 costs a relatively pocket-friendly $279 USD – making it the cheapest card NVIDIA presently offers through its latest Fermi architecture.

Interested in getting in on NVIDIA’s GTX 400 range, but have a little extra cash to play with? Then you could always consider the slightly more oomph-worthy GTX 470 or GTX 480, both of which were launched in March of this year and cost $379 USD and $499 USD respectively.
