Pinch of salt at the ready... Image: Microsoft.

While wise to file the following under 'Unsubstantiated Speculation', unnamed sources from within the videogame industry have informed trade publication MCV that Microsoft's potentially revolutionary motion-control system, Project Natal, is heading for a November 2010 launch.

The supposed leak detailing Natal's arrival comes after American software giant Microsoft reportedly brought its new camera-based interactive technology before a selection of videogame publishers and developers based in the UK.

With Microsoft highly unlikely to comment one way or the other regarding Natal's progress, we're only too happy to indulge the rumour, which suggests the Natal platform will cost between $50 and $80 USD and will be supported by 14 compatible Xbox 360 games at time of launch.

Wait, there's more... Microsoft is also clearly expecting Natal to be a hit with gamers, not least because the Redmond-based titan is apparently planning to ship an initial five million units of the device in both a standalone format and as part of a special Xbox 360 hardware bundle.

Sadly the rumour stops short of detailing individual game titles that will be released alongside Natal, although one significant Xbox 360 title with confirmed Natal functionality is Lionhead's Fable III – which just so happens to have a tentative release of 'late 2010'.

Microsoft Game Studios apart, other third-party videogame publishers already pencilled in for Natal support include the likes of Activision Blizzard, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, MTV Games, SEGA, Square Enix, THQ and Ubisoft.
