Evidently the draw of Intel’s new Core i5 and Core i7 processing technology in Apple’s MacBook Pro notebooks isn’t having much of an impact on consumers, especially those still keen on watching the pennies while purchasing high-quality products.
According to Apple Insider, the newly revamped 13-inch MacBook Pro, which was released on Tuesday and comes equipped with either a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor and a 250GB hard drive (for $1,199 USD) or a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo and a 320GB drive (for $1,499 USD), has already sold out at a number of Apple Stores.
“AppleInsider’s checks with authorized [Apple] resellers has found that while the high-end 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models are in stock, none have the 13-inch model available,” noted the fan site in its report.
The humble 13-inch MacBook Pro may well represent the basic model in Apple’s portable computing armoury (the iPad and its 1GHz processor notwithstanding), but the considerable price difference separating it from the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros clearly makes Apple’s littlest notebook the biggest winner with consumers.
In terms of the 13-inch notebook’s ongoing appeal with Apple fans still feeling the effects of the economic downturn, the 15-inch MacBook Pro, which comes with a 2.4GHz Core i5 processor, has a starting price of $1,799 USD, while the 17-inch MacBook Pro and its 2.66GHz Core i7 CPU costs a much more pocket testing $2,299 USD.
Other contributing aspects helping to keep the 13-inch MacBook popular include improved single-charge battery life of up to 10 hours and the addition of NVIDIA’s GeForce 320M graphics processor, which offers up to 80 percent increased performance over its predecessor.
