If you’re a dedicated fan of Nintendo’s dimension-busting 3DS console, chances are you’d like the added convenience of a second analogue stick via a powered cradle device that doesn’t drain your system’s battery.

If so, the upcoming Circle Pad Pro peripheral is just what you’re after—mainly because it’s being touted as providing game-hungry 3DS users with a whopping 480 hours of operational time on a single AAA battery,

Beyond relying on its own power supply, the cradle platform also fits securely to the 3DS and looks perfect for those rare ‘hardcore’ videogame titles that could benefit from the inclusion of dual-analogue controls.

For proof of that, major 3DS software releases Resident Evil: Revelations and Monster Hunter have already been confirmed as offering support for Nintendo’s latest peripheral.

The Circle Pad Pro is expected to hit retailers in Japan this coming December 10 attached to a price of 1,500 yen (approx. $20 USD).

It should receive an international release on January 27 as either a standalone purchase or as part of a special Resident Evil: Revelations software bundle.
