The continuing ‘will it, won’t it’ rumour regarding an imminent price drop to the Nintendo Wii gathers yet more pace today following renewed claims that the motion-sensing home console is to be adjusted at retail in light of similar moves by market rivals.
According to the diligent industry watchers at videogame blog Kotaku, pre-release promotional flyers belonging to heavyweight retailer Toys R Us have blown fortuitously across its path. And, if said flyers are to be believed, the Nintendo Wii is on the cusp of an official $50 USD price cut.

The “Wii Price Cut” flyer suggests Nintendo’s popular console will be moved from $249.99 USD to $199.99 USD, which puts a solid $100 USD of breathing space between the Wii and rival platforms the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – both of which have recently dropped to $299 USD.
The flyer, which has yet to be either confirmed or denied by the American retailer or the Japanese console manufacturer, also reveals that the price drop bundle will come into effect on Sunday, September 27, and will include Wii Sports.
