Although widely regarded as the best videogame ever, you’d be forgiven for thinking that everyone who ever wanted to enjoy the wonders of The Legend of Zelda: Oracina of Time… well, already has.

However, the Nintendo 64 original is many, many years old (1998), and the current generation of gamers may never have experienced the magical world of Hyrule while guiding Ocarina of Time’s iconic hero through his greatest adventure.

So it’s therefore not especially surprising to note that the revamped and extra-dimensional Ocarina of Time currently available for the Nintendo 3DS handheld is apparently selling by the bucketload.

That’s according to information gleaned from GfK Chart-Track, which has said more than 20 percent of the established 3DS user base snapped up the game within the first two days of retail availability. Woof.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released on June 17 and promptly entered the UK chart at No.2, thus providing the 3DS console with a solid exposure boost ahead of Nintendo’s traditionally solid summer sales period.

“We generally find that summer time is a good time for handheld gaming and we have lots of sampling and summertime events to get more people hands-on with it—that leads us nicely up to all that great content coming out,” enthused Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton in an MCV report.

Some of the upcoming software big guns alluded to by Yarnton include the likes of Resident Evil: Mercenaries, Mario Kart 3D, and the long-awaited returns of exclusive Nintendo characters Star Fox and Kid Icarus.

“There are aspects to the 3DS that are rising to the top, people are saying ‘I get it now’ and are ready to see what other games it has to offer,” added Yarnton.
