It’s not often than established PC games are released onto consoles ass backwards, but that’s exactly what’s happening with Crytek’s critically acclaimed Crysis series.

Specifically, following on from 2011’s release of Crysis 2 on the current generation of home consoles, a new remastered version of the German developer’s original sci-fi shooter now looks set to arrive on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Running Crysis with all its graphics options ramped to maximum was a definite hardship for the majority of host PCs back in 2007, and it certainly wasn’t a viable option for porting to Microsoft’s and Sony’s home platforms at the time.

However, it would appear that the implementation of "all new lighting, all new effects" and "all-new Nanosuit controls" now means the action can finally be squeezed onto consoles—we’re interpreting those quotes as "scaled back, dialled down" and "gamepad friendly".

Expectant console gamers and PC purists can appraise and/or scrutinize the final product when its evil North Korean troops and alien hordes are unleashed this coming October.

Until then, prepare to unleash your opinions via the following console trailer for Crysis:
