Barely a week into his second term as chief executive officer (CEO) of Google, and top dog Larry Page has already been busy rearranging the search titan’s upper echelons.

In an apparent effort to streamline the business—particularly where the speeding up the decision-making process is concerned—Page has promoted seven executives into positions of power within some of the company’s most important divisions.

Those Google execs now holding the title of ‘Senior Vice President’ include: Andy Rubin, who’s become the head of the Android mobile operating system; Salar Kamangar, who’s been handed YouTube and video; Sundar Pichai, who’s now helming the Chrome browser and operating system, and Vic Gundotra, who has netted Google’s social networking strategy.

Existing senior vice presidents given a positive nudge forward by Page include; Susan Wojcicki (now running Google ads); Alan Eustace (promoted to head of Web search), and Jeff Huber (leading the company’s local and commerce division).

“The folks that you’re seeing, which as part of the reorg have kind of come to the top, are sort of the core areas of the business that the company is focused on,” revealed sources close to the matter in a Reuters report.

The newly reinstated chief executive is apparently also set to blow the winds of change across the rest of Google’s workforce, with 25 percent of annual bonuses expected to be connected to the success of its social networking initiatives.

Page’s swiftly implemented executive shuffle follows the recent resignation of influential senior vice president Jonathan ‘JR’ Rosenberg, who’s expected to vacate his position in June.
