Moving to further improve its popular and established Pre and Pixi handsets, resurgent smartphone specialist Palm has released version 1.3.5 for the webOS platform utilised by both devices.
While the update delivers a fair smattering of tweaks and enhancements, the core elements of v1.3.5 centre on the removal of restrictions connected to the storage of software applications – meaning device holders can now equip their handsets with as many apps as they see fit.
Staying with applications, the new update also offers up the beta release of the Palm App Catalog, which provides support for simultaneous content downloading and also background downloading – the latter allowing for tasking elsewhere with webOS rather than waiting for a download to complete.
One other important addition introduced through v1.3.5 is improved operational longevity whenever handsets are located in areas offering only weak signal strength. According to Palm, v1.3.5 helps alleviate battery drain under such circumstances and will prolong battery performance as a result.
Other elements attached to v1.3.5 of webOS include the ability to perform a full erase via a held button combination, the editing of forwarded text for all e-mail account types, time displayed when screen displays are locked, on-screen notification for landscape mode support, and Web browser support for animated GIF files.
