As the star that is HD DVD begins to die out, studios are making their final transitions away from the losers of the "format war".

Last week Paramount and Dreamworks studios made the decision to stop releasing HD DVDs after March 4. Any title that was scheduled for release after March 4 has been cancelled. Some of the titles that won't make it onto the format include "Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and "Bee Movie".

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Paramount could start releasing its titles on the competing Blu-ray format as early as this summer. The final movies to be released on HD DVD are "Into the Wild" and "Things We Lost in the Fire".

For those that currently own an HD DVD player, retailers have begun to clearance their HD DVD movies so be sure to check the Sunday paper for great deals.

Check back with The Tech Herald for any updates as they occur.
