Upcoming software epic The Beatles: Rock Band really doesn’t require any focused marketing to help it emerge as a best-selling title; its unparalleled catalogue of legendary tracks and tantalising instrument controllers should be more than enough to secure consumer cash.

However, just in case there are any Rock Band fans unaware of the approaching cash flow storm The Beatles: Rock Band will surely create, Microsoft included Paul McCartney and Ringo Star in its keynote address at yesterday morning’s opening of the E3 Expo in Los Angeles.

Accompanied on stage by Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, the two surviving Beatles officially introduced the first ever gameplay footage for The Beatles: Rock Band, which showed a brief glimpse at how the game will chart The Fab Four’s rise from a modest club outfit in Liverpool to the biggest musical act the world has ever known.

The latest addition to the Rock Band franchise, The Beatles retail pack will contain 45 of the band’s greatest tracks, including classic early offerings such as I Saw Her Standing There, I Feel Fine, and I Wanna Hold Your Hand, through to the likes of Day Tripper, Back In The USSR and I Am The Walrus.

Set to reach further into The Beatles’ back catalogue, players will also be able to download further songs from Xbox Live, including charity single All You Need Is Love and the entire Abbey Road album. All sales garnered from the charity single will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

The Beatles: Rock Band is due to hit stores on September 09, which is also the release date attached to newly remastered editions of all 13 of the band’s albums – which will come complete with previously unheard studio commentary snippets.
