Sony Computer Entertainment has announced a selection of tempting hardware/software bundles in an attempt to build on the retail momentum created by a much anticipated PlayStation 3 price cut and the successful retail launch of its physically trimmed PS3 Slim.

The four (yes, four) new PlayStation 3 packages will be rolled out during the month of October, starting with a twin Platinum game bundle and an inFamous bundle – both of which are pencilled in for October 01.

For those prospective consumers not entirely convinced by Sony’s offer, a bundle including upcoming action adventure Uncharted 2 will be released on October 16, while a Blu-ray movie pack with Batman: The Dark Knight and Wolverine will hit retail shelves on October 19.

Beyond the appeal of added software and movie content, Sony’s new PlayStation 3 bundles will also come equipped with an expanded 250GB hard disk drive and a retail price point of 284.99 GBP.

“Following the great success of the new, smaller, 120GB PS3, which sold over one million units in its first three weeks on sale, the 250GB model has the same hardware specifications as the current model, but with greater storage space, to offer consumers even more choice,” enthused Sony.

Facing another possible retail upsurge, the initial Platinum and inFamous bundles will arrive on the same day as Sony officially launches its revamped PSP Go portable gaming console.
