Having recently suffered a major data breach, which resulted in the pilfering of tens of millions of user accounts, Sony made an attempt to repair its dented reputation earlier this week by bringing the beleaguered PlayStation Network (PSN) back online.

However, while its multiplayer service was busy enjoying a new lease of life, great sways of (still) disgruntled users were left wondering when the PlayStation Store would receive a similar resurrection.

With gamer spleens venting left, right and centre, and Sony Computer Entertainment remaining tight-lipped on a possible return, videogame magazine Gamasutra is claiming to have obtained insider information regarding the much-requested PlayStation Store.

More pointedly, a memo reportedly penned by PSN content manager Jack Osomo to Sony’s development partners states that the store should be up and running by May 24—further technical problems notwithstanding.

Those PlayStation users partly placated by the return of PSN, but still quietly fuming after hackers made off with their personal details, may yet put aside any remaining discontent once the store reopens.

Mainly because Sony is promising to gift every user with “Welcome back” goodies, which will include temporarily free access to the PlayStation Plus premium service.

Rumours of the PlayStation Store’s return come after Sony was forced to yank the repaired PSN platform offline for a short period of time yesterday due to the appearance of a potential URL exploit.
