Processing giant AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) has this week unveiled its new ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics solution, which arrives with a tantalising $99 USD price that the California-based company hopes will tempt prospective customers held back by budgetary constraints.

Offering support for DirectX 11, the value HD 5670 should provide the pennywise computer owner with a solid entrance level card capable of handling various high-end multimedia tasks and also some of today’s more graphics-intensive computer games.

AMD’s introduction of the HD 5670 is perhaps the next logical step in attracting recession-influenced consumers following the recent arrival of its HD 5700 series, which similarly delivered DirectX 11 support at price points ranging from $100 USD to $200 USD.

The basic ATI Radeon HD 5670, which has been crafted using the same 40nm manufacturing process that’s behind the HD 5700 line, comes equipped with a clock speed of 775MHz, up to 1GB of GDDR5 memory, a data range of 4Gbps, 64MBps of memory bandwidth and 620Gflops of computing muscle.

Other features included in the sub-$100 USD card include ATI’s Eyefinity technology, which provides support for up to three display connections, HDMI 1.3a output, hybrid CrossFire compatibility, GPU transcoding and hardware Flash acceleration, Dolby True HD, and DTS Master Audio.

Available now, the 512MB version of the ATI Radeon HD 5670 comes tethered to the $99 USD price point, while the slightly more oomph-worth 1GB card costs a tad more at $119 USD.
