Recruitment website for the LVPD replaced with propaganda

by Steve Ragan - Mar 28 2012, 08:00

Recruitment website for the LVPD replaced with propaganda.

Members of the ZCompany Hacking Crew defaced the Las Vegas Police Department’s recruitment website on Tuesday. The defacement message accused the U.S. of joining Israel in a commitment to maintain a racist Jewish colony in Palestine.

“These political factions have joined in a commitment to maintain a racist Jewish colony in Palestine by means of the brutal oppression and suppression of the natives...You burn the Holy Quran, You use drones to kill innocent Muslims in Pakistan, You cause controversy in the Arab lands for oil, You ban the Niqab, You kill innocent Muslims in Palestine, You torture innocent Muslims in Guantanamo bay, You rape & torture Muslim women(Aafia Siddiqui), yet we are the terrorists...”

ZCompany has a history of defacement in order to spread political propaganda, one that stretches back to 2010. In addition to the LVPD, the crew targeted eleven other sites earlier this month.

The earlier attacks targeted the Zionist Organization websites in the U.K. and Ireland, an Israeli dating website, the Jewish Veterans Center, and the Hebrew Vocabulary Center, among others.

All eleven defacements included the same message attacking Israel. Such attacks, the group said, are done in order for them to “educate the world about Israeli crimes.”

At the time this story was written Tuesday evening, the LVPD had not corrected the defacement on their website. Requests for comment were not returned.
