Dell's tablets are getting steadily bigger (and better?). Image: Dell.
After dipping a toe in the tablet market with its smartphone-esque Streak 5, followed by a submerged foot with the much more credible Streak 7, computer maker Dell looks set to dive in head-first with its latest offering.
More pointedly, the Wall Street Journal reports that Dell has unveiled a wide selection of upcoming computer products—including a 10-inch business tablet—during its ‘Dell Means Business’ event held earlier this week in San Francisco.
Although tech specs are yet unknown, the new tablet will apparently carry Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system and will be more attuned with enterprise users thanks to support for improved control, security, manageability and infrastructure integration.
And, rather than being specifically skewed towards the business community, the 10-inch tablet will also cater for more general consumers thanks to a version equipped with Google’s Android operating system.
The Windows tablet, which is presently only in prototype form, is expected to be ready for retail before the close of 2011.
Other upcoming products showcased by Dell during the event included notebooks, desktops, business workstations, a convertible tablet, and also the hybrid Latitude XT3.
