Last week we reported on Samsung’s official announcement regarding which of its mobile devices would be receiving the soon-to-be-released Android v4.0 software upgrade.

While owners of more recently crafted products such as the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note were covered on that line-up, it did not include the original Galaxy S smartphone or 7.0-inch Galaxy Tab computer.

According to Samsung’s subsequent reasoning, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab were not part of the ICS line-up due to RAM and ROM limitations likely to conflict with the smooth running of both ICS and the proprietary TouchWiz user interface.

However, any disappointed or disgruntled owners of said first-generation devices could yet receive Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) software—if current online whispers are to be believed.

Although presently restricted to the realms of unsubstantiated rumor, a report on Korean website ajnews cites an industry insider in its claim that Samsung is responding to unprecedented consumer demand and reviewing whether its older platforms can be somehow adjusted to run ICS.
