With fresh Netbook computers presently hitting the hardware market at an increasingly rapid rate, Samsung is looking to divert consumer attentions away from the competition by announcing a price cut for its NC10 system -- before it has even been released.

Touting its diminutive and ultra-portable NC10 as being priced “aggressively against the current market,” Samsung has this week confirmed via a statement to the UK press that its inbound Netbook entrant will be shifting from around £329 GBP (excl. VAT) down to a more penny-friendly £299 GBP.

“This decision was made to reflect the current trend in the mobile computing market and our commitment to ensuring Samsung resellers are in the best position possible to supply customers with the highest-quality product possible at a competitive and attractive price,” explained Dinest Chand, Samsung’s product manager for notebooks.

While Samsung’s consumer promise is noteworthy, the pre-release price drop is perhaps more indicative of the South Korean electronics specialist not wanting to be overshadowed in the growing Netbook market by the likes of Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9, Toshiba’s NB100, and the ever-popular ASUS Eee PC -- all of which retail for less than £300 GBP.

Expected to hit retail shelves by the close of October, the NC10 comes complete with a 10.2-inch LED-backlit display screen (1024 x 600), a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, up to 1GB of RAM, up to 160GBs of HDD storage, and the Windows XP operating system.

Other features include Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth connectivity, VGA out, a built-in card reader, three USB ports, and a special anti-bacterial “Silver Nano Technology” keyboard.
