Good Lord, eat something already. You too, woman! Image: Akihabara.
Not that CRT television owners need reminding that they’re consumer electronic troglodytes guilty of living in the past while peering into their hulking prehistoric TVs, but that hasn’t stopped Samsung from producing a market-leading skinny LCD that further ridicules the ignorant while tempting the loose willed.
Specifically, Korean technology giant and prominent high-definition TV maker Samsung Corp. has this week unveiled the latest addition to its steadily expanding range of positively anorexic LCD devices.
Sporting a generous 40-inch LCD panel and an eyebrow-raising profile of just 3.9mm, Samsung claims its new TV boasts the world’s slimmest LCD TV panel technology, which, if accurate, easily surpasses the 5.9mm ‘thickness’ attributed to market rival LG’s range of similarly slender LCDs.
Although Samsung has not yet divulged related prices and regional release dates for its (quite literally) pencil-thin TV, associated features and functions include LED backlighting, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a contrast ratio of 5,000:1.
