The sassy ASUS Seashell certainly packed quite a Netbook punch when it launched last year and, beyond being an annoyingly shiny haven for fingerprints, its elegant styling, dependable specifications, and affordable pricing left the critics in little doubt as to its worth in the market.
Now, with technology binoculars in hand, the diligent industry watchers over at Philippine online magazine HardwareZone have apparently caught sight of the second generation ASUS Seashell, which promises to deliver significant improvements over the original Eee PC 1008HA system.
The Seashell 2 (or Eee PC 1008P), which is expected to receive its official unveiling at the CES 2010 tradeshow in January, will carry Intel’s Pine Trail architecture alongside an Intel N540 Atom processor, a standard 1GB of RAM and a solid 160GB of data storage.
Designed and signed by Karim Rashid, the Seashell 2 also benefits from Windows 7, a shock resistant screen, an on-board Web camera, an ultra slim removable battery that slides from a side compartment, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity.
Reports also claim VGA support is delivered through what appears to be a mini-USB adapter slung beneath the system. As you can plainly see, the upcoming Eee PC platform will also come in rather flamboyant colours choices – such as the groovy number pictured above.
Expect more on the Seashell 2 when it gets an official airing during CES 2010 in Las Vegas between January 07 and January 10.
