Following on from news that Google is bringing Android version 4.0 to a host of Samsung Galaxy devices during the early part of 2012, Sony Ericsson has revealed which of its handsets will also be receiving the same Ice Cream Sandwich boost.

According to the smartphone manufacturer—which will soon drop the Ericsson moniker—the Android version 4.0 upgrade will arrive first on the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V, and Xperia Ray.

With those initial handsets heading for an upgrade in late March or early April, they will be followed before the end of May by the original Arc, original Neo, Xperia Play, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, and Xperia Active.

The Japanese/Swedish technology partnership has also moved to outline its Android upgrade process, explaining that Sony Ericsson developers will be combining the new Android platform with existing Xperia software before making sure it meets expectation.

Once the software is deemed up-to-speed and has met with the approval of external partners, it will then be rolled out via the aforementioned phased release schedule.
