Clearly keen to remove any persistent tarnishing from its newly resurrected PlayStation Network (PSN), electronics giant Sony has this week pushed a content-filled update towards tentative customers stung by the recent spate of data breaches.

And, while the arrival of the multiplayer beta for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is likely to rouse plenty of interest with PlayStation 3 owners, we here at Tech Herald Towers have had our ears pricked by the HD remake of Beyond Good & Evil.

Priced at a mere $10 USD, Beyond Good & Evil may be approaching its eighth birthday but the 1080p makeover is sure to attract existing fans and newbs alike due to its brilliant blend of sci-fi action, great characters, sharp humour, and oddly compelling camera-based gameplay.

Shifting focus back to Uncharted 3, those Sony fans currently enjoying InFamous 2 can now take advantage of the bundled beta invite to the online component of Drake’s Deception—as can those registered to PlayStation Plus. Everyone else will have to wait until developer Naughty Dog completely opens the beta on July 4.

Other PSN additions available as full game downloads include frantic sci-fi shooter Gatling Gears ($10 USD), Puzzle Dimension ($9 USD), and SEGA classic Streets of Rage 2 ($5 USD).

Piling on the fun for PlayStation 3 users, the update also sees the arrival of the Decimation multiplayer pack for Crytek’s hard-hitting shooter Crysis 2, which includes five new maps and two fresh weapons.

New playable demos for Sony’s home console range from Duke Nukem Forever, Homefront, NCAA Football 12 and Motorstorm: Apocalypse.
