U.S. mobile phone operator Sprint has this week moved to officially add the aptly-named Motorola Debut (i856) to its ever-expanding portfolio of portable devices aimed at both business users and more general consumers.
While it notably arrives as the first slider phone to offer push-to-talk (PTT) functionality, and to also grant users touch-button switching between PTT and interconnect voice during calls, the $99.99 USD Motorola Debut is also described as a stylish multimedia platform.
So what do you get after signing on the dotted line of a mandatory two-year service contract and successfully processing a $50 USD mail-in rebate (moving $149 USD to $99.99 USD) on the Debut?
Motorola’s latest handset also comes with a built-in MP3 player and external music controls, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, an integrated 3D Audio equaliser, a modest 1.3 mega pixel camera (with up to 4x digital zoom) and video capture, GPS image tagging, and a variety of messaging solutions.
Other contributing aspects crammed into the diminutive Debut include expandable memory via microSD (up to 8GBs), voice-activated dialling and speakerphone, and a nationwide Walkie Talkie capability.
Pre-loaded applications include Sprint Mobile Email & SME-W, TeleNav Navigation, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile and NFL Mobile Live.
