While avoiding any sticky discussion or debate regarding the possible maximization of profit, we will simply inform you that prominent print publisher Simon & Schuster has brought forward the release date of the official Steve Jobs autobiography.
The book in question, which was initially penciled in for a November 21 release, leapt up the pre-order lists of various retailers soon after the death of Apple’s former chief executive officer on Wednesday.
For example, the self-titled ‘Steve Jobs’ was the best-selling book on Amazon by Thursday morning, and the third most popular pre-order purchase through the official web store of Barnes & Noble.
And, perhaps in answer to that sudden rush of consumer interest, Simon & Schuster has now opted to shunt Walter Isaacson’s authorised examination of Steve Jobs into a much earlier October 24 slot.
In related news, Blue Water Productions has revealed that it is to release a digital eBook version of a comic book Jobs biography it has been working on.
The print version of the comic remains on track to be released on October 27, but Barnes & Noble customers can nab the electronic edition now via their Nook devices—while those with Amazon Kindles can download it from tomorrow.
A portion of the proceeds gathered by the 32-page comic book biography will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
