Fans of post-holocaust RPG epic Fallout 3 have found themselves temporarily left out in the gaming cold following news that its latest portion of longevity-extending downloadable content (DLC) has been pulled after being beset by glitches.

Specifically, developer Bethesda Softworks has removed the download from Microsoft’s Xbox Live network and issued an apology to those expectant Xbox 360 owners who purchased the “The Pitt” expansion only to be met by instances of freezing and crashing during gameplay.

“We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360,” commented Bethesda’s vice president of public relations and marketing in an official statement. “We hope to have another update for you shortly.”

Explaining that current indications suggest corruption on the English-language version of the download, Bethesda has said it will replace the apparently glitch-riddled file with a clean download “as soon as possible.”

When the expansion is finally returned to Xbox Live, followers of the award-winning Fallout 3 should expect to pay $10 USD for the privilege of being transported from a devastated vision of Washington to a bombed-out imagining of a post-apocalyptic Pittsburgh.
