Want to turn a few heads while watching your favourite movies on a sleek slice of mobile hardware? If those desires fit your consumer profile then it might be worth your while to check out Toshiba’s new Satellite A350 notebook.
While it may test the portable boundaries of some, there’s little denying the instant appeal of movie watching on the 16-inch TruBrite display (1366x768), which offers cinematic 16:9 widescreen performance.
The A350’s visuals are complemented by premium quality integrated Harmon Kardon speakers, Dolby Sound Room technology and the Dolby Control Center – which, if not enjoyed via headphones, may result in testing the aural boundaries of fellow commuters or coffee shop regulars.
Arriving in a sexy, high-gloss Cosmic Black, the latest addition to Toshiba’s popular Satellite range is powered by a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, ranging up to the 2.13GHz T7450 CPU – while a 2.10GHz Turion Ultra Dual Core ZM-80 is also available for AMD fans.
The A350 also comes with 4GBs (2GBs + 2GBs) of DDR2 memory as standard, Microsoft’s Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, and a range of hard disk drive (HDD) capacities reaching up to 320GBs.
Other contributing factors conspiring to loosen tight consumer purse strings include an integrated Super-Multi DVD drive, along with Draft-N wireless, Bluetooth, and HDMI connectivity on select models, a modest 1.3 mega pixel Web camera with Face Recognition, an on-board microphone, and a trio of USB ports.
Perhaps somewhat unsurprisingly, given Toshiba’s loss to Sony in the HD format war, the Satellite A350 doesn’t come with a Blu-ray drive as standard, although expected retail prices from 530 GBP to 750 GBP go some way to reflecting that shortfall.
