Nice, but what about the price? Image: Toshiba.

If you're a television watcher looking to make the leap from bulky CRT to swanky LCD, take a moment to peruse Toshiba's new 42-inch Regza 42SL738, which the Japanese electronics specialist believes is “perfect for the modern living room” as the ideal entry-level 100Hz LED flat-screen set.

Unveiled during this week's IFA Consumer Electronics show in Berlin, the newest addition to Toshiba's Regza line offers energy-saving LED backlighting alongside a series of high-quality features, such as Toshiba's proprietary Active Vision M100 processing and extensive connectivity options (i.e., four HDMI ports, Freeview, USB).

And, according to Toshiba, the Regza 42SL738 also benefits from full 1080p high-definition resolution (1920 x 1080), a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1, and “a super slim design” that combines a sassy gloss finish with silver accenting to provide “stylish LED performance at an equally attractive price.”

Unfortunately, despite Toshiba's obvious gusto and willingness to rattle off the new TV's attributes and specifications, the one thing it isn't yet willing to disclose is the “attractive price” it mentions in passing in its press release.

We'll be sure to let you know if the Regza 42SL738 qualifies as a perfect entry-level 100Hz LED set when Toshiba confirms its associated pricing and regional retail dates.
