Verizon Wireless leads the way in call quality report

Ever wondered which of the telecommunications giants you should select when considering a possible mobile phone purchase? While there are plenty of factors to mull, if it’s call quality that you’re after then Verizon Wireless is your best bet, according to the latest standards report by J. D. Power and Associates.

Scoring highest on the J. D. Power call quality report for the second time this year, Verizon’s cellular service in the U.S. market outclassed its regional rivals in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Southeast and Southwest while also performing consistently well elsewhere across the country.

In terms of what to expect should you sign on the dotted line as a Verizon customer, the operator apparently leads the way when it comes to minimising the annoyance of dropped calls, whilst it also strives to ensure text-based messages and voicemail messages are dispatched and delivered swiftly.

“As customers continue to increasingly stress wireless networks with growing call volume and data usage for texting, e-mailing, and surfing the mobile Web, it is critical for carriers to keep enhancing network performance by maintaining and upgrading to next-generation technologies,” commented Kirk Parsons, director of wireless services at J. D. Power and Associates, regarding the gathering network impact of multimedia smartphone devices.

Other call quality details put forward by the report place rival carriers T-Mobile USA and Alltel alongside Verizon Wireless in the West, with T-Mobile’s performance notable for keeping echo and distortion to a minimum while Alltel sustains solid text messaging performance.

Network titans Sprint Nextel and AT&T were notable by their absence in the upper tiers of regional performance, although the report did at least outline AT&T’s relatively solid ability in most areas.
