With anticipation building for Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system, which will be officially released on October 22, it has emerged this week that the upcoming platform will be Released to Manufacturing (RTM) throughout the months of August and September.

While the RTM version won’t be accessible to general consumers eager to put Windows 7 through its paces, the advance release will give Microsoft access to further feedback from its business partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), IT professionals and software developers.

In terms of availability, software and hardware partners will be able to download the RTM release from August 06, while Volume License Customers will be able to grab it on August 07.

A little later, Gold/Certified members of Microsoft’s Partner Program will have access from August 16, while Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers will have it on August 23.

The RTM releases stretch into September, with Microsoft business customers, IT professionals and other developers set to receive the new OS before the close of the month.

And, in related news, Windows Communication Manager Brandon LeBlanc has revealed that Microsoft is to release a family pack bundle of Windows 7 Home Premium, which will include multiple installations on up to three different PC systems.
