If earlier coverage of the ARTiGo mini PC showcased the epitome of compact space-saving efficiency, the DarwinMachine Type 339 arrives as its chest-puffing and ostentatious counterpart. It’s also kind of awesome.

Created by design engineer Matthew Kim, the Type 339 is a desktop mini that packs quite a punch thanks to the inclusion of a 2.5GHz Core i5 2400S processor (3.3GHz via Turbo Boost), 4GBs of RAM, and a Radeon HD 6570 graphics card.

Beyond looking like Halo’s nefarious library warden 343 Guilty Spark, the illuminated 9.5-inch cube and its sassy opaque aesthetics also hide dual data storage options served by a 40GB SSD drive and a massive 1TB HDD drive.

Other fixtures and fittings include the LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard, an optical CD/DVD drive, and the 64bit variant of Windows 7 Home Premium.

Clearly confident in the quality of his computer skills, Kim is willing to provide Type 339 owners with a lifetime chassis warranty. Though, to be honest, we wouldn’t expect anything less given that the system costs $1,999 USD. The Blu-ray version of the Type 339 takes the price to $2,149 USD.

It’s still awesome though.
