Yet more Apple Tablet rumours as leaked photos hit the Web

by Stevie Smith - Oct 27 2009, 16:15

Is this the Apple Tablet? Surprise, surprise, Apple is saying nowt!

In a day of technology news already rife with outlandish rumour and wild speculation, persistent whispers regarding Apple’s mysterious and shadowy Netbook-busting tablet computer are once again on the rise.

Specifically, murmurings are increasing in intensity following related remarks made by New York Times executive editor Bill Keller and the online emergence of leaked photographs that apparently showcase the much-rumoured Apple Tablet.

The photos of the device, purportedly being manufactured by Foxconn, deliver a tantalising glimpse of a sleek and slender tablet computer dominated by a generous touch-screen display and closely resembling the iconic aesthetic design of Apple’s hugely popular iPhone and iPod Touch.

Meanwhile, Keller’s noteworthy remarks were made during a forward-looking meeting of the New York Times’ digital staff, in which he said it was important to get the newsroom “more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate, or whatever comes after that.”

With Apple maintaining its long-established position of being frustratingly tight lipped regarding any and all gadget-based speculation, the latest round of suggestive Tablet ‘news’ follows configuration whispers that point to a touch-screen interface, a 10-inch screen, an integrated Web cam, and a price point somewhere between $700 USD and $900 USD.
