Intriguing book. Lousy title. Image: Amazon.
If you know anything about Cupertino-based Apple Inc., you know that the world’s sexiest gadget maker is incredibly secretive regarding its products and its day-to-day business practices.
And, speaking as a news writer for the technology sector, I can personally attest to the desk-pounding frustration associated with Apple insofar as communicating with the media (and indirectly its customers) is something Jobs & Co. simply don’t often do.
Bearing the company’s longstanding mystique in mind, it won’t come as much of a surprise to discover that online retailer Amazon has begun taking pre-orders for the official Steve Jobs biography some eight months (that’s eight months) ahead of its publication.
According to Amazon, the hilariously titled ‘iSteve: The Book of Jobs’ is available now for pre-order ahead of its March 6 release at a cost of $18.00 USD for the hardcover copy, or $14.99 USD for the digital Kindle edition.
Clearly finding favour with expectant Apple fans keen to know the ins-and-outs of life at Jobs Towers, the book is already ranked at #21 in Amazon’s Top 100 books, and is the #1 book in the retailer’s Technology department.
The authorised Steve Jobs biography is being penned by former Time Magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson and will be published by Simon & Schuster.
